All of that is true. I do think there is costs associated with the extra day of field use as well but, yes, the ultimate goal is profits. In a "capitalistic society" that is what everyone wants - right? I mean if we wanted to get political, which many people love to do here, we could say limiting tournaments to Saturday & Sunday is somewhat of a socialist move isn't it?? Because it's for the "greater good" - but of who? What about all those homeschooled kids who have flexible schedules? Quite a conundrum.
Lol..my post was just a "this is the way it is" post..I wasn't giving an opinion one way or the other so the first 5 words
of your response would have been sufficient.. ;)

If enough people determine they don't like 3 day tournaments during the school year, and then act on that, then those companies will ultimately have
to make a decision..

to play in an exposure tournament when the college coaches aren't there.
This. And the D2’s and D3’s are there on Friday? O.K. Can’t be many, and how far from home are they? Is this the one chance the get to see your kid…. I doubt it.

As far as video…. I have bad news for you. The world isn’t orbiting the precious 22’s, 23’s and 24’s etc etc. What do you think college coaches are doing on Fridays? Sitting around watching video or keeping the train on the tracks with the 25 players they already have? There is this thing in college softball called fall ball and they are pretty much spending all day with both team practice and individual practice. They are just a little bit busy.

People, I know this seems like life or death right now but it isn’t. Relax. Put your best foot forward but what’s gonna happen is what’s gonna happen.

Yes, this post is harsh. Parents need to hear it though. People who have never been exposed to college softball don’t realize that it doesn’t happen in a vacuum.

Because teams show up to play.

Apparently parents like an excuse to not go to work.

There is probably a debate to be made that missing one day of school means nothing.

Whats the problem then...lol

DD is taking mostly college level classes her senior year.....she does NOT miss school, by choice

we have to go down to MA for a 2nd visit to her top choice school - she is already stressed about it, and we won't even schedule it until next week

Oh I know my first statement was sufficient and I chose to go on. Because some people are losing their minds over something I feel is trivial. 🤷‍♀️

Your last statement is so overused in society - honestly - no offense to you. It is said over and over - i.e. about "stay to play" , i.e. PGF nationals vs Alliance. Basically PGF wasn't hurting this year - and Alliance made their big bucks too..... just added another player to the game because people will always flock to the big names. It never changes because there will never be enough people to act on it. They just like to complain.

It is only overused because very few choose to make a hard decision and actually do anything but whine...doesn't make it any less true.

To go with your capitalist theme, if PGF starts losing money because people are not signing up for their 3 day tournaments then they will be forced to change...right?

Lets all agree to focus on 'stay to play' first! You'll waste way more $ on that garbage than the decision to skip one Friday game.

Just like there is a "long game" in youth athletics..there is a "long game" in youth academics as well (only tangentially related to the OT).
