Compared to ppl stating he’s changed away from HLP.
Not following Mike. So are those things which you wouldn’t be able to attribute to better application of HLP principles? If the answer is no, how would better application of HLP principles result in less tilt (for example)?

Not a “gotcha” question, truly interested in your answer. Rich’s view (I asked him..) is that the improvements this year are the result of him being ready earlier and slowing things down…which either you and @Shawn stole from him or he stole from you 😂

It’s really a sad day for all those “ tummy twisters claiming hip shoulder separation

funny you say that , I’ve been teaching how to visually slow the ball down for over 25 years. About a year and half ago I , on the phone , had that conversation with Richard. He bought one of those tennis ball conon‘s that shoot 150mph. I hv a 95mph version. He didn’t steal it from me but maybe he was listening. I shared exactly how I teach it to young kids and my daughter credits it to helping her get to college. A weak endorsement I know

The biggest thing Arron and Bonds were able to do is be early and wait on the ball by loading in the ready launch position and slow the ball down on the path to the plate.

Ive always thought of it like a drag race, one car revs his motor ready for the green light. The other waits to see if the light turns green before reving up the engine.

no gotcha

Thanks. The quip about thieving was a joke..😉. I am sure you were both able to come up with it independently.

Slowing down the game is something all athletes strive to do so I am not going to argue with you there. That said you didn’t answer my question regarding the adjustments (which I assume you think are beneficial) and how they relate to better application of HLP (which you and Rich are attributing to slowing the game down which allows one to better apply what he was taught). Or are those adjustments outside the realm of HLP and not important enough to try and figure out the origin??

Put it another way, if you had a kid who was tilting too much (again, as an example of the adjustments you mentioned) what would you do as an instructor? If the answer is slower and earlier fair enough but mechanically I would like to know how a rushed load would cause too much tilt.

That was the question which I said wasn’t a “gotcha” question.

Sorry I skimmed over you post I was late for church. I’ll read it slower and try to do a better job.

dumbing it down helps thanks

1. trying to tilt can cause leaning backwards
2. Tilt is more of a reaction from the suddenness of the hand snapping the barrel rearward (with a aggressive triangle) against the coiled leg snapping forward.

i failed to teach an aggressive triangle because I was afraid of dumping the barrel and bleeding the corner. A more aggressive triangle kept my upper torso over the rear hip and balanced it with a better leg snap.
3. How the front leg receives , absorbs, and directs the flow of energy.
If the front leg locks out to soon the hips are stopped from their rotation. This can cause more tilt and a steeper swing. Haley was such a great student , she did what I taught but we discovered things are not always black and white. This video of Mike Trout shows how I teach the front leg. Still a kickstand but with a shock absorber .

Pattar,

I would tell the hitter to stop tilting so much. lol

Check to see if the hitter is leaning back when loading/coiling. Check for hip slide or aggressive forward move. Do the loading/coiling around the head, which includes a up and back, example would be Cabrera. Feel that 3D.

If you agree with Mike regarding AJ’s adjustment, did you see any of those issues in his pre-2022 swing?
