Actually for financial reasons in D1 it happens
A LOT

Example
Nursing & medical degree's are not offered as much to athletes.
Conflict of time.

Myself was an industrial technology major which
Clearly in the 1st year was obvious it had conflicts.
I switched to recreation and Leisure.

Now i say i am a leisure specialist

I know of no Medical Schools that have a softball program.. (I got your point..)

I don't know. I do have a problem with unnecessarily and purposely taking kids out of school to make money.

I keep seeing you say this so have to ask - Do you know for a fact that they could get all the games in on Sat/Sunday without playing Friday? Have you analyzed things to that level?

No offense Rad but that is totally avoidable unless you make softball the priority..which is certainly a choice one is free to make.

I didn't want to bring this up but now that the ice is broken.... Small sample size... but the former D1 softball players I have met are not really very impressive either socially and occupationally. (is that a word?) So they got their D1 education cheap but they come out of college less polished than you might expect. I guess priorities play a role. If my DD plays college ball I hope she will play for a college that will allow her to get a degree of her choice. Wonder if there is a study on D1 athletes vs non athletes and their average salaries after graduating.

I believe and (will double check) that only Championship games will be played on Sunday. That's not always the case but most of the time they can get the games in without playing Friday MORNING.

Yes confirmed. Three Championship games 14/16/18 played at 8:30am Sunday morning. Tourney is over by 10:30 am Sunday.

that's odd. What tournament is it?

Also, they are likely giving themselves a little extra time for weather. In case there are delays, they have Sunday to get the games in.
