I previously asked if peer pressure is affecting this...
Of course. I have made statements on here previously which said kids need to learn that is ok to be different. Some people never learn that and hence when they become adults still feel the need to fit in, even if it will be to their (or their kid's) detriment in the long run.

I do think most of the issues regarding poor decisions is from well-meaning parents who haven't taken the time to learn and hence are susceptible to false information..

Well obviously you aren't accepting the answers...
and not answering questions directed back at you to answer your own question.
Since YOU ALLOW your daughter to play travel
NOW WHAT will you do?

Will you let her play travel on school time?

Will you let her play for her school and miss school?

Seriously @Rolling Hard beyond your issue of capitalism...
Softball exists the way it does because people want to show up and play!

As far as money,
Is there anything in this giant scheme of sb that can get accomplished without it?
I got the answer. Money is more important than academics. Listen, we got 9 pages out of this subject so obviously it is a worthy topic. I don't mind anybody making money as long as it is legal. IS this legal??? I don't know. I do have a problem with unnecessarily and purposely taking kids out of school to make money. I would like to hear what school administrators or the board of education viewpoint would be on this subject.
Wouldn't it be cool to see State Truancy Officers with badges out raid the showcase and charge organizers with unlawfully persuading and detainment of minors to avoid education. See it on eye in the sky channel 7 news.

Good topic yes!

But complaining about what people want to do and choose to do. No.

So you wont let your kid miss school to play?
Glad you have that choice!

This Professor's view is that a kid can miss every one of my lectures. As long as he/she learns the material I don't care.. ;)
(obviously grade school is a little different than College but the basic premise is the same..)

My brother, also a professor, has the same philosophy.
*with exception to lab classes.

Interesting how since covid/online reached the masses...that makes sense to more people now.

In fact multiple familys told me they were absolutely fine going on road trips and vacation during the school week knowing there kid would still get school work done while traveling.

MANY more resources now!

Of course, taken to an extreme, my viewpoint would be put me out of a job.. 🤣

Why do they show up? Well-meaning parents are being duped and manipulated by people who simply want their money. Softball people who know better feed fairy tales to parents and players.

Softball charlatans are everywhere. They are in personal coaching, team coaching and tournaments. (Some college coaches are the worst.)

Here are the simple, basic rules for getting a scholarship:

1. The kid needs to be really, really good.

2. The kid/parents need to contact college coaches themselves. Take complete responsibility for recruiting. Don't hope that a softball coach will wander by a game and scream, "OMG! I've got to have that girl!" Don't rely on your HS coach/personal coach/TB coach/Anyone to help.

(Everyone who reads this post should send me their name and address, and I'll bill your $200.00 for my "recruiting service".)
I've been duped? C'mon! My DD hasn't even mentioned playing in college, and I'm leaving work early to take my special little princess, who doesn't use the barrel of that bat, out of school early to suit up with the Hitten Kittens in a PGF tournament that is sure to have at least zero college coaches watching. We are getting there early to work on her screw ball. Luckily her other 7 pitches are game ready.

We live close by, but I'm getting a room for the weekend just to support the economy!
