How do you not recognize the hips getting forward early/first now? That’s a shift @Shawn

These are so different. The top is what you describe.. opening into foot plant OR the swing is the shift, the hips get forward as he turns the barrel one legged. The bottom has his hips getting forward as he gets his hands back, torque.. swinging after foot down. The lingo might be the same but the swings are night and day. The top looks awkward, rushed, cramped and ugly. The bottom is smooth and sequenced. The shift is the stretch would be a better description.

Edit: no more ‘corner’ for AJ now? He likes his hands in front of his body? So much for that concept.

Edit: his back hip goes to the head now, not the other way around. Tilt or side bend is the result not a mechanic.

I always disliked the corner concept. Even if in theory it creates bat speed it causes disconnection. I am glad AJ has lost it and predict a huge season for him this year.
Could somebody post Trouts HR vs. Otani's yesterday. Trout super connected with no corner. Otani with corner. Both ways can work but I see more benefit from keeping hands in front of the body.

That’s a stretch, that is on and around. Bow to corner. You don’t know when the swing starts.

Love how you guys try to justify his swing.

The only thing he is doing differently is he was preset at 80% load to learn the swing. Less movement. Now he flows into it. You have to know what that 80% feels like first.

He himself in that video said his hands were getting trapped...

He may have pinned his hands trying to preset, Hard to trap them with the hand’s starting mid chest and pulling them back while the spirals moving in down, sit, back and up. Hands are in no rush to go forward. Hands back, creating a pivot point.

While it’s nice in theory, you cannot hit (as well) from a preset position..there needs to be some dynamic loading. So like he said in that video , he was presetting in such a way that when he then went to dynamically load they were trapped. Watch the video, he explains it 😉
