She doesn’t, move forward much. She is in a deep chair, like Pujols, Bagwell where they load back/upwards. The action we have discussed, where you can see the knee/leg will raise during the up and back. Watch her in a vertical sense and not a horizontal/momentum sense.

Hey, all!

We’ve done well in 10U thus far, but the move to B class has been tough on us at the plate. We’ve held our own, but not hitting the ball as well as we need to. What are some good drills for timing, earlier load, and hitting a faster speed? We get around 150 cuts in the cage, so we’re repetition-heavy and we try to keep the speed around 45-48, but that’s not doing the trick. Keep in mind the average speed we’re seeing is 45-50.

Here is a drill. Make the hitter starts the load before the toss. Toss it outside half, hitter should drive it RC. The whole idea is to load, control the load. Slow feet, quick swing.

A simple, helpful drill for either coach or machine pitch is to use multiple plates, separated by a foot or so. Have batter move from plate to plate in a variety of patterns.
