Have you seen the "Try-Out" Fee in travel softball before? It was for an Org tryout. Do you have any thoughts on this?

In baseball it used to be very common. $20 a player, 100 players tryout, $2000 in 3 hours. Coaches already know whos making the team before tryout begins. Softball is way behind the money ball curve.

Yep, much more common in baseball. I really haven't seen it yet in softball in our area.

We have only seen 1 team charge this year. $25. To be fair-indoor facility for tryouts and I imagine it cuts down on no-shows or people who sign up but aren’t really sure they’ll make it to the tryout.

It's a more complex situation to consider why people would charge for tryouts. Definitely the cost of fields or facilities has gone up noticeably. Along with that the amount of people who are just wishy-washy wandering around and the mixture of talent levels. I can understand why people are charging. It probably does weed out some people.
