It sound like great news for girls hoping to play college ball. Will most mi majors be able to fund 24 full rides? This is going to get very interesting quickly. Say you are the AD in the Big West Conference and your rivals announce they are going to fund 24 full rides. Will you have to find the money to fund 24 full rides in order to compete? Will the rich get richer? Were their players that were offered 30% scholarships at a big time school but chose to go to a different school because the offer was better? Now what happens? Portal activity go crazy? And from clarity prophecy become true, "There are going to be a significant number of decommitments, and the talent is going to push up the chain. There is going to be a lot of movement."

Someone mentioned that with the new increase in scholarships there will also be a cap on roster sizes. Even without being fully funded many of the big schools have rosters larger than the new limits being put out there. It will basically eliminate the option to walk on and prove yourself at a bigger school. So definitely some draw backs to this as well.

Ohhh is there information to those possible new guidelines?
Would it make too much sense to make that roster cap equal the amount of full ride scholarships?!

Roster cap could definitely be a chopping block.

Not sure how many a typical softball team has on the actual roster. But I know baseball generally has more players involved on a roster than the new limits will allow. This may end up pushing more talent to smaller schools if a kid wants to be a part of a team. I always like a good walk on story and this may sadly be the end of this.

The roster cap is the cap. School don’t have to fund all 25 and they can still offer partials and have walk ons but the roster can’t exceed 25. That being said, if school increase their baseball and football full ride scholarships they will need to increase the scholarships in women’s sports also.

I have no idea. Just looked up a few on their websites. Out of 3 teams all of them had more than 20 listed and one of them had 26 listed on the website. Not sure if they also have some girls they allow to practice that aren’t listed on the website or not.

College athletics has become European. In Europe, schools don't have athletic teams. Most cities have professional or semi-professional teams. The teams switch divisions based upon their records.

College sports has become too mercenary for me. D3 is going to be decimated.

At one time, athletes were students who played for the greater glory of the school. Now they are professional athletes. What's the point of having classes for basketball and football players? They're just passing through.
