This gets tougher and tougher to have a discussion, when you have sooooooo many greats being reviewed here. There will never be a one way fits all...it's what works for the hitter, and avoid the bad habit pitfalls.

Actually there is one way that great hitters do or better said things they have in common, technique/traits.

There are other ways to hit. Just not the same way of the greatest. Take G Stanton, great athlete, horrible approach and technique. Perhaps a 10 year player with superior athleticism and then his athleticism decreases and he has no technique to fall back on.

There are a lot of 10 year greats. 5 year greats.

We should be looking at 20 year greats.

There are greats who hit well, Carew, Ichiro, Boggs, Gwynn, Jeter who slap and punched oppo. Jeter was a great athlete who could have hit for more power. Edgar had no speed or athleticism, poor hamstrings. Edgar could drive the ball. Jeter is more famous for shooting, punching the ball through the hole oppo and dropping the ball in oppo. Even taking inside pitches oppo. Like Ted said a push swing.

There are a lot of people teaching the push swing.

Certainly the traits of a great hitter are here in the videos, it's how they all get to their spots that are a bit different in many different subtle ways.

Griffey coils upright. You can see the recoil in the stance/start. He had a quick tempo.

Slower tempos, the recoil involves a more pronounce negative move. Holding the stretch.

Coiled in the stance, quick tempo. Just a quick recoil.

Both these swings video is slower. Although it suggests a slower tempo.

They’re all doing the same thing.
