I wasn’t being obnoxious. You said signed and there’s a huge difference in signing and being recruited or verballing. Other than that and the Sunday thing I agree with your post.

Understood. My apology. I was referring to signing on signing day at the earliest opportunity meaning that most power 5 would sign around that time where as mid conferences and other levels were much more likely to have kids continuing to be recruited and signing throughout the year. Although there definitely are cases of highly competitive programs and players taking longer to recruit it’s less common so I believe the answer to the posters question really hinges on whether his dd is a 2024,5 or 6 16u player.

When my DD went from a B+ team to an A team, her pitching stats (Wins, ERA, WHiP) all improved dramatically, and not because of anything she did.
The opposite happened with my daughter, not because she wasn't pitching well. The tournament competition got significantly harder when we went from a B+ team to an A. Even though the team around her was better, so were the other teams. We went to TCS Nationals in Myrtle Beach last July, and we ran the table to win the 16U championship. Her team this year is at PGF, and there's no way that's happening. And I can tell you that her team this year would smoke her team from last year.

We have seen something similar. Get a good defense. I think how much better the defense is.
The only stat that got worse was strikeouts.

Makes sense. We were generally playing the same group of 20+ teams, just doing so on a better team.

It’s easier to pitch when you know you don’t have to strike everybody out so while whatever metrics you were using to determine that “she wasn’t doing anything different” may not have changed, she still may have been pitching better..

Yes, defense is huge. The biggest change I noticed between last year and this year is the unearned runs are way down. And that's even more exaggerated between travel and HS.

There are several games each season in which my daughter needs to strike out at least 10 for her team to have a chance. That puts a lot of pressure on her to succeed. In travel, she knows she can give up a hit and not have it turn into a triple.

@uncdrew mentioned WHIP. In MLB the difference between the worst and best defensive teams has been shown to be about 0.1 in WHIP. Now in his case the difference between the team he went to and the previous team might be larger than best and worst defensive teams in MLB so an additional 0.1 or 0.2 might be possible. Of course this is assuming the people doing the scoring were doing it correctly (in both cases).

Just out of curiosity @uncdrew, what was the difference in WHIP you saw?
