I dont see the separation. that 's why i ask. I am watching the rear elbow move the same time as the hips do.Think you can see their separation by watching the jerseys tighten.

Got it thanks. I think i agree with this. And to me, the firing of the hands is the thing that is missing and becomes drag or casting. Connection to me = active hands = fire your hands.I don't think focusing on turning the hips is the right approach if that is what you are asking. Get into a good attack position as you move out (hips/shoulders square to the plate or slightly turned toward first for a RH hitter with front shoulder lower than back shoulder..actions to do this will vary based upon setup..)and try and maintain it as long you can while walking away from the hands (the amount will vary Betts and Griffey walk away a bunch) :
Fire your hands when your brain tells you to and I think the separation you are seeing will take care of itself for the most part
So are you saying ER of the front leg, after heel plant is turning the hips? What do you call the rear knee 'roll over'? is that an IR? or with the hips turning, is the rear leg ER'ing? This clip is key. But not for the reasons everyone thinks.
The hip turn here is NOT an action taken, it is a result of:
1. landing on a bent front leg
2. heel dropping/rotating
3. this makes BOTH knees roll over, which turns the hips WITHOUT any effort/muscle/twitching.
If you are trying to muscle the hips around in this phase, you are doing it wrong.
edit: The ER of the front leg AS the heel goes down.So are you saying ER of the front leg, after heel plant is turning the hips? What do you call the rear knee 'roll over'? is that an IR? or with the hips turning, is the rear leg ER'ing?
Like the way this kid talks about the hips going 'forward' due to heel plant movement. Then fire!

Appears the use of the back elbow subtlety creates the separation and the heel plant subtlety starts the acceleration of the hips forward.I don't think focusing on turning the hips is the right approach if that is what you are asking.
