I already told the op why his dd was struggling. The hitting forums aren’t as active bc folks read here and other sites. They are getting good info. This stuff isn’t that hard to figure out.
what are the other sites? BBfever is all i really know for some additional content.

In any case extension isn’t driving the hands forward. I think there is one optimal swing for meat balls, everything else is an adjustment.

Sounds like WW wants the hands driving forward as he was talking about hand speed as well.

It depends, if your swinging at an outside pitch the barrel is turned very deep. Therefor your barrel is sent backwards more, compared to an inside pitch.

For example on this outside pitch, look how deep the hands/barrel at lag. This happens with TTB and the barrel arcing rearward.

I don't see it as turning the barrel rearward or any deeper on a out side pitch. You're still ttb towards the ball. Your just on a different line. The rh batter in the clip isn't looking ttb the barrel deep rearward to find some space behind the ball somewhere first. imo he is looking to go with the pitch to right field. Get the barrel direct to the ball and drive it oppo.

I don’t know why people can’t see it. It’s clear to me.
Again ttb rearward first then direct it. I can't agree with that. Pro players have eyes and a brain and the ingrained actions to know how to be direct from the get go. Imo

Shawn,

The hands and barrel arent "lagging deep". Theyre still going "down" and "to". But since the pitch is outside, the "to" part is more at the camera and less at the pitcher/forward. That's why you are confused.

It’s called swinging out from. It happens regardless. I like your post, mostly. lol
