Spit balling here, if NCAA thinks it's going to get any kind of oversight on this, they may have to do away with conferences that used to be based on geography and divisions that used to be based on enrollment and go to tiers based on dollars put into athletic departments from all sources.

Might as well use credit card naming to denote what level a tier is. NCAA Division 1, D2 and D3 becomes NCAA Platinum Gold, Silver, etc. All the bowl games will be sponsored by banks and investment firms. Wanna play in the Capital One Bowl? Ok, then what's in your wallet?

This will change college softball completely. You will no longer be able to play for a mid to lower level P5 (4) or mid-major team with any hopes of the unicorn WCWS run. The top teams that can garner the money will be completely stacked with transfers who have proved themselves on other teams and are chasing the almighty dollar.

Great for the individuals who can obtain the big bucks, but sad for the teams that will now never have the chance to make a deep NCAA run anymore.

Add the significance of NIL deals at those programs.

Whenever they say it wasn't about the money, it was about the money...

You'd have to go back to 1998 to find a mid tier program that won the WCWS. So nothing's really changed. More talented players have always gone to the top programs. Texas Tech has never been a top program. Texas Tech would be the proverbial unicorn in your scenario.

I’m talking about just making it to the WCWS - not necessarily winning it. James Madison made a great run in 2021.

Korbe Otis transferred from Louisville to Florida. Money wasn't the reason. Same for Erickson. Canady seems to be the outlier now. Texas Tech has a booster with a love for softball and unlimited cash. Almost all the other transfers have been for non-monetary reasons.

But look at the other schools that offered her money that were also being considered. Stanford offered her 6 figures from what I read. That means those same schools (donors/sponsors) will have decent money to offer to others, as well. This is only the beginning - it is still in it’s infancy - but just wait….

I think you're getting waaaay out over your skis there. Canady makes them competitive in the Big 12, but there's a number of good teams there to overcome. Which Regionals is Tech going to win, and then which Super??? Which SEC contenders are their Sun Belt transfers and misc freshmen going to score on?
Pitching is very important.
