As others have said welcome to 10u softball. It’s the nasty side of this fantastic sport. Keep doing what your doing with your daughter and don’t worry about the negativity. It’s something all of us with talented kids have dealt with at one time or another

For the record, I would just like to say I’ve spent years sitting out in left or right field just to stay away from crazy parents so it’s not always the ones who sit alone who are the issue

That being said, welcome to softball. You are going to encounter these people at every age level and almost everywhere you go. I do believe it has gotten worse and remember a lot of parents are jockeying for that FB post!

I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to offend or stereotype by where somebody sat. That’s just been the experience with this particular family. Thanks for your feedback!

Lots of bad advice being given so far.

First thing you must do is sign up for Jiu Jitsu classes for the next year. After you finish a year of Jiu Jitsu classes, go and kick their azz for messing with your family. If that don' work, you need to hire an assassin to do the dirty work for you.

I am kind of being sarcastic. Sometimes people need to be told to go get F'd.

No offense taken at all. Mine was more sarcasm. Honestly I’m surprised they sit way out alone. Normally a family like that tends to “hold court” to try to rally other families.

Best of luck to you. I wish people would realize it’s a kids sport, for kids. But man, a lot of people are just straight up asses. I guess he glad you are able to see them for what they are. Just wait until you encounter the besties to your face, trash talk to your back. I guess it takes all kinds and softball parents are no different.

Actually funny you mention the bestie to your face, trash talk behind your back thing. This Mom and I used to talk quite a bit last season; UNTIL my daughter decided to try pitching. My daughter enjoyed learning to pitch but was terrified about pitching to a live batter. A coach encouraged her to try pitching to a live batter at a scrimmage once. She immediately overcame her fear after that and once she was ‘serious’; I had her try a couple private lessons. That’s been a continuous thing just about a year now - she’s so passionate about it. Once the private lessons began and my daughter got consistent and got playing time - the drama began. It’s unreal.

Be thankful the coaches seem to have a good handle on the situation and aren't being intimidated by those parents. Maybe those parents will leave the team next season, if they really believe their daughter is being wronged in some way.
