Baseball and softball have something in common. Both are obsessed with velocity to a fault. The pitcher could be 10 and 1, Whip under 1, ERA 2.12, hardly any walks BUT only throws 59-60 (softball) or 90-91(baseball) and the recruiter will turn their nose up and pass instead choosing the pitcher that throws 65-67 or 97-98, flatter than day old beer and gets lit up like a Christmas Tree everytime they face a good team.
So everyone is chasing velo to get recruited.
