I would say starting in 2005 when Michigan (1 team East of Mississippi) won the WCWS through present. The growth is unprecedented and it just seems to be getting better. There is much more parity throughout the NCAA and other organizations than in any time is the sports history which is a very good thing. California is no longer the dominant force that it used to be. Not that the level of play has declined, rather it has gotten so much better throughout the nation. Even Olaf and dem Gophers are making noise.

FWIW - Since 2005 there has been 1 "PAC-10" WCWS (2010 UCLA vs AZ). In the previous 10 year period 8 out of 10 of the WCWS were "PAC-10". After 2005 everything seemed to change.
