No a coach is not allowed to be in the stands coaching, they need to be in the dugout. As for the coaches box, they are only required to be there prior to release of the pitch. After that they can pretty much roam all they want but can't interfere. My arguement to the ump was the runner on 3rd should have been allowed to score and if he is going to enforce the dead ball rule he needs to enforce their coach coaching from the dugout and staying in the coaches box while he is coaching 3rd. He would walk along the foul line up and down on the dirt.

This is one of those times when you need to look at what happened. The first play on the ball was from the infield so when the ball became dead due to the interference by the bat boy all runners return to the base they were on at the time of the pitch, if the throw is from the outfield or a subsequent play it is determined by the base they acquired at the time of the throw. Also the runner closest to home is out. I know it is clear as mud. Welcome to the dark sideRule questions u10 girls fastpitch:
Runners on 2nd and 3rd. Ground ball to short and shortstop overthrows first base hitting bat boy by fence. Ump calls a dead ball and sends girls back to 2nd and 3rd even though they had got to the next base before it hit the bat boy. Hitter was allowed to stay on first. Is a dead ball correct and should they have had to return to their base.
