DD's season just got shorter. Broken ankle at practice Wednesday. Meeting with the surgeon first of next week. In a cast she would be out 6-8 weeks but with surgery she is looking at 3-4 weeks. Stinks for her because this will be the third year in a row she has lost time for a different injury.
I hate to hear this. Prayers for a speedy recovery! Sounds like she will be back when it counts!DD's season just got shorter. Broken ankle at practice Wednesday. Well, DD was shut down by her orthopedic dr. today. Been having some serious throwing pain. Scapular snapping syndrome and scapular bursitis. Her range of motion in the throwing arm/shoulder was awful. Nothing for two weeks other than stretching to regain range of motion. If that goes well, some resistance work before beginning throwing program. If pain persists after regaining range of motion, looking at MRI/possible torn labrum. Going to miss at least a dozen games including preseason and regular season. Not the start she was expecting her senior year.
Thank you. She is a catcher, but I need to update the avatar. That was from freshman year, lol! She had a bad pop Monday at practice and was the worst it had hurt her. Been dealing with it since last summer, but it had been manageable. We shut her down for November and December, but it showed up again. Practicing in 30* temps probably doesn’t help. This sucks. I assume from your avatar that your daughter is a catcher? My daughter rehabbed "thrower's shoulder" (the catch-all term for biceps tendinitis and/or rotator cuff tendinitis) 18 months ago, and rest was the only solution for us. Even now, our daughter complains of a sore shoulder after a couple of games, especially if she has more than 2 or 3 throw downs/pick offs per game. I keep telling her the solution is to make sure she throws out the first girl who tries to steal.
Hope your daughter gets better quickly. In GA our HS season is Aug/Sept/Oct, so we're in full-tilt travel mode.
