Don't know if this topic has ever come up, but i thought it would be a very good topic to throw out there to see how it lands in everyone's view.

I know of a player who is on one team's official roster, and when she is not playing in a tournament with her team she loves to be playing somewhere. How does the general census feel about individuals guest playing with other teams when others players r needed ( players out of town, injured players, and so forth). Does this hurt the individual or help them. Seems like coaches don't like it when it is one of their players doing it< but they don't mind using one of these players when they need one.

Generally, it is helpful--if they get to play. A parent has to make sure exactly how much PT (playing time) the DD will get. But, assuming that the details are worked out to the satisfaction of the DD and the coach, then it is a good experience for the DD.

A coach will only ask a "good" player to guest play for her team. The good player's regular coach is afraid the player will jump teams.

That is almost impossible now to be legal with current ASA,NSA and USSSA rules. For a team to pick up a sub they almost can't be playing travel ball for any other team. Unless that team plays in no qualifiers.,r it is an ASA event and the team she plays for only plays NSA. Ever year kids and teams get in trouble subbing because the coaches don't explain or understand the rules.

yes, this behavior is frowned on, USSSA is considering penalties to teams who knowingly
use girls rostered to other teams. It is not in the best interest of fair competition
that 'stud' players jump from team to team each week

Example: Team A (10 players) is really wanting to play in a tournament this weekend, but unfortunately they two players that are going out of town for the weekend. Team B is not playing and has at least 1 player maybe 2 that wants to play. Sorry team A we can't let them play with you because some coaches frown on it.

I know that some very good teams pick up (STUD) players just to bolster their team to win certain tournament's that i don't think should happen. But some girls love to be out there for the love of the game, so we should keep them from having that opportunity.

Remember is it just about winning or is it to try and develop the players.

This is the reason we release the proposed schedule months in advance. We schedule
tournaments around vacations. If team A is only carrying 10, they are light
to begin with. Some teams like to grab studs only to chase a $2 trophy, this is the reason
there are rules to begin with.....

My DD is a pitcher and her coach LOVES IT that she gets more mound time. We never conflict with our teams practices or allegiance's. We would love to think our daughter is a stud, but she is not. She is a solid all around player who loves to play and understands that pitching against live batters in game situations is the key to progress. She isn't worried about trophies or even if she thinks the team is weak or strong. We all understand that more mound time will make her better.
