2nd base (fielder) was late to the bag.
Watch her feet start to shuffle slowing down approaching 2nd.
Almost appears slower than the runner.
Actually stopped.
Should have extended body cross the base.
Reaching toward ss to make it a shorter quicker play.

From this imo
On that play ss was fine.
Going for fielders choice.
*send the video to the 2nd base person as a learning tool!

2B was definitely late getting there. Still would have been a close play even with a "stretch". SS decision probably would depend on the game situation too.

Error coaching staff for not teaching 2nd base how to make a force play but you have no stat for that.

Only an attempt has to be made an out is not required for a FC. Technically there does not have to be a play at the base either. Mental errors are not errors either

No players union..... Youtube makes sure it will never be forgotten. Kins face tells a thousand stories after the throw

1. The umpire clearly signals the runner was safe.
2. I would have called the runner out simply because she didn't slide! (so as not to reward the bad behavior!!)

To the OP

If the girl was out at 2nd it would have had to be a FC.

Since she was safe you then have to determine if the the batter would have likely been out if the threw to first. Since she was on her knees
fielding the ball it seems unlikely she would have thrown her out.

The fact that she might not have taken the right angle or could have backhanded have no bearing on how it's scored.
