One of my students, now 13yr old,
hard working, smiling, shows up ready to go, does her softball home work weekly type of kid/athlete,
Found that the team she had been loyal to in 12u,
Most of them didnt want to try!
She actually started noticing
it a long time ago, and slowly became more frustrating.
As she was going to turn 13 the family thought to go to tryouts.
AND the best thing happened.
After going to a few...
She finally went to a team tryouts of a group of young players
'who all want to try!'
And they offered her a spot!
She expressed to me how nice it is to be on the field with a group of other people who are going to try.
She said with a smile!
She's encouraged by the fact that she knows her whole team will get better because
"They want to!"
Really like this little story because its not about talent level, its about a young person noticing who's participating or not. And her awareness of her goals amongst being involved with others.
It was not easy for her at first to seperate her loyalty to her team and friends.
Yet ultimately EFFORT made the difference!
