I just don’t understand how the hands can be along for the ride when you have to torque the barrel to accelerate it. Makes no sense to me.

So we apply a ‘running start’ so we can turn the body to deliver the torqued barrel?? The hands and arms have to be apart of the delivery system at this point. Why even torque the barrel otherwise?

Same method. Similar results.
The "hands are along for the ride" originally had to do with the inability of the hands to move themselves in space.

So the hands hitch a ride through the arms? Or the turn?
Isn't it both? It can't just be the "turn" since that would be spinning. The hands have to ride connection for some brief period of time. "The hands are along for the ride" was Englishbey's position. He is right when he made comments that the hands can't think for themselves and they can't move themselves through space.
