Anyone have any experience with this showcase? Several sister teams in our TB org are attending and wanted to see if it's worthwhile next year?

Used to be one of the best. Got bigger and now unless you are one of the chosen few, it is a complete rip off. Expect to play on a remote field up to an hour from Disney where no coach will travel.

DW and DD1 fly there Thursday night. They have some tough games in Gold. It will be a good experience for her.

So if you are a 14u team from CA, very few college coaches will be watching your games and not worth the expense? Looking at one of our teams, one day several of the games are at the ESPN fields. Does that change anyone's perspective?

Depends how close they truly are to the 18U Gold bracket games. That is likely Field 12-15 on the Softball Diamondplex and maybe the championship field (which is nowhere near the other fields)

There is what feels like a mile between sets of fields at WWoS and if you are on the baseball set of fields (fields 1-5 which they will use), you might as well be in a different complex because the 2 extra softball fields in the Softball DiamondPlex (fields 10-11) plus 2 soccer fields AND a sports pavilion separate baseball fields from the main 4 softball fields. If you are on Field 1 no one will ever see you - it is tucked away from everything.

If you are on the extra fields over by the soccer (fields 21-24) you might as well be in a different state. It is a LONG way away.

Here is a link to the field map at WWOS so you can see for yourself: http://as1.wdpromedia.com/media/espnwwos/pdf/complex/ESPN-WWOS-Complex-Map.pdf
When you are there it feels even bigger than it looks.

I need to add: You will either enter at 'D' on the map which is as far from the fields as possible. There is STAIRS and RAMPS down to field level. They occasionally let players enter by field 1 but not spectators and it doesn't really help much. Either way this is like walking around a Disney size park - it is 255 acres in actual size

Excuse my ignorance but wouldn't some of the college coaches want to see some of the 14u and 16u players that have yet to verbal? Seems like colleges are looking for very good 13, 14, 15, and 16 YO?

Same as always - if you are working the emails/contacts then they may come out to see your game because you invited them to. But they aren't going to wander by just to take a look unless they have a specific reason to do so. Especially when it is a hike or on some weird back field. A lot of the 'verbals' in this age group are playing on teams in a 18U Gold/16U Gold team so they see them there rather than at a 14U division.

Oh last thing - occasionally they move the 18U Gold to a totally different complex (Normally the Osceola County Softball Complex which has 5 nice fields) or even at Clermont (which is a hike away but nice fields) so even if you get a premier field, that is the day the coaches are all somewhere else. You need to check the whole schedule for any event at WWoS and surrounding complexes.

DD is playing there, and she's at a faraway site. But it doesn't really matter. There is only one school there that is recruiting her, and they'll find her. The rest aren't going watch her nobody where she is.

They cashed our check at the end of July, first of Aug but never put us on the team list. A cashed check is usually a good sign that we're in. Well, after numerous emails we weren't !! Several parent lost airline ticket money and everyone had to cancel their hotel arrangements. We're playing in Chattanooga this weekend.
