Here is some feedback on an old post.

Lazy parent finally went to the store and got DD some cleats.

She wore them for the 1st time Tuesday and is going to hurt herself. She digs her cleats right into the ground when she tries to slide. We have a few Players that wear tennis shoes, watching them, all of them drag the bottom of their shoe along the ground whiile sliding.

Great another thing we need to work on. :)

Heh, yeah that happens.

Now do you understand why we make even 5 year old t-ballers wear cleats? If they always wear them, they can't develop bad habits that will get them hurt, like the above.

Yep, makes more sense now.

Quite honestly I did not think it would be an Issue. Oh well, live and learn.

I would check with the coach of your DD's team regarding cleats vs. spikes. Most sanctions do not allow spikes until 16U (I believe USFA allows them at 14U). I would also recommend that your DD practice in whatever she is going to play in as cleats and spikes provide different levels of traction. Spikes also have more 'bite' which can lead to twisted knees and ankles.

DD is playing 12u and is not allowed to wear spikes.

Last year, the League we play in, started allowing 16U and up to wear spikes.
