This guy had a lot of hand movement and he hit pretty well.

Most of her hand movement, similar to Belle’s, is because she starts her hands more in front of her so they have father to travel to get back. Not an issue as long as they get back in time.

What is being described as a negative hand movement was described as style back in the day. Would I coach that much movement? No. However, the results over time seem to have been pretty good.

Shawn, the pitcher is mediocre and that is obvious? You can say that after seeing one pitch? Damn, I can't wait for you to post all of the success of your hitters and the top-notch pitching that they face.

Cannonball - have you ever noticed how the people who can actually hit mostly agree (outside of a few absolutes), that every hitter is different and needs to find “their swing”. Then there are the folks who can’t hit themselves who are so absolutely sure there is one way to swing a bat and if they could’ve found that way, they would’ve been better players themselves.

I heard a good analogy yesterday, you want to burst. The stretch and loading should turn into the swing. To continue to stretch to create the burst, just like a balloon bursting, you continue to fill the balloon with air until it bursts. You don’t stop filling the balloon with air or stop and restart.

It’s one thing, it’s not about the pieces. The entire body is used.
I agree that the whole body is involved in the kinematic sequence, but that’s not the question is asked you.

This is a perfect example of a positive approach, eye hand cordination and raw athleticism overcoming sloppy (poor) mechanics. Most players with this kind of disconnection will not play at the highest level. On the other hand, there are players with text book swings that because of poor approach/ mental game that will not play at the highest level.

Why are his mechanics “poor”?

I am not an Albert Belle expert and maybe this was not how he normally swung. Good hitters in live games will and can contort themselves to do whatever it takes to put barrel on the ball. In this long swing, he collapses his upper body chasis into his chest, draping and armbarring his bottom arm and drags the barrel across the ball. It's not pretty. TBS, I never was fond of 1st ballot HOFer Griffey Jr. swing either.

Wow! Albert Belle was a loose mover, that made his swing longer than a tight mover but had excellent sequencing and timing. As far as Griffey is concerned, maybe the most efficient swing of all time. Without the injury years, he might have been the all time homerun king. Question, who’s swing do you like?

Not RH but I'll answer who's swing I modeled my dd's swing after. We used Albert Pujols' swing. As I have often posted, that was the goal but there is only one Albert.
