Disclaimer: on a Alliance only team

However, does anyone actually prefer the tournament structure of PGF nationals to Alliance? I think Alliances approach is way better. I think it is an awesome format to have a double elim bracket for two Tier 1 Super Regional Berths, and the bottom two teams go to Tier 2 Supers. Then a double elim bracket for winner take all to get to Elite 8, double elim to get to 3 game championship series.

I've always thought it weird regarding the 3 meaningless scrimmages then into a double elimination tournament.

Lots more opportunity to battle in the tournament in Alliance... My $0.015
Feedback from teams that have done both was that Alliance need a deeper pitching roster.
Alliance heard that multiple teams dropped out of the losers bracket games because there was no reason to continue playing for a title they could not win ( can't come back from that bracket to eventually win) and their players were burnt out, plus the Heat humidity was a factor.
( there were teams that continued after some teams took the pass and didn't play)

Agree the 3 scrimmage games for pgf may not be the right time or necessary to be doing that. However it gives teams that will lose early the chance to play at least a minimum amount of games.

Between pgf and alliance really think it comes down to where families want to spend their money.
And will participate in either event pending its location. Yes it may affect what team they will play on because it part of both budget and location.

From sitting with her dad, the stories are true.. I'm sure there was days skipped here and there but he did say that she hit ALL of the time, and huge number of swings.
1000 swings on a field (which is what they said they did when when she was little) would probably take at least 400 minutes or so with shagging even if they hit 100 at a time..Not impossible but unlikely IMO. Doesn’t really matter..whatever they did worked 😉

After Regionals they put you into Tiers. From there you have Super Regionals and then a championship series. A team can lose in any of the Tiers but once you get into Tier 2 you can only win the Tier 2 championship.

Just sharing the feedback from teams coaches.
Perhaps they were not interested in tier 2 🤷‍♀️

They probably didn’t want to bother with Tier 2 although I am not sure that is fair to the kids..
Players were toast. Coaches said it was not worth the brutal exhaustion risk.
Especially when teams did not have a deep enough pitching roster.
It's a lot of games in a short amount of days not spread out like college.

What happens if you get in the loser’s bracket after the first game in PGF? I've watched PGF championship games on Youtube where they mention the team having to win 5 or 6 games in a day after they were put in the loser's bracket early in bracket..

Also unless you were talking about 12u or 10u, 16’s and 18’s were in Indiana which wasn’t that hot.

Sorry but sounds like sour grapes to me 🤷🏽‍♂️

At pgf losers bracket they are playing those games with the chance of winning the entire tournament!

Think it was 2 years ago a 14U team called Unity (that was grouped together players from neighboring midwest states) went into the losers bracket early and came back and won pgf Premier Nationals. That was one heck of a stacked team!

Alliance is not the same in that way.

I was surprised when I was hearing about the teams dropping out of the alliance tournament. And it's not just one or two teams that did it there were multiple teams that forfeited their games. Teams dropping out of the tournament happened... bizarre as that maybe 🤷‍♀️

* I'm not sharing that because I pick one or the other softball venue it's just feedback of what happened.
