Vinci custom sale

Vinci has some sales on their custom gloves right now. I will say their Optimus custom builder could use some work, the limited custom builder at least shows an image of the glove.

I ordered an Optimus for my daughter so she can stop using the mid 90s LS glove my wife used in college.

I have lace floating around when it's needed, that LS glove she's been using has needed some work from time to time.

We've had 4 Vinci's over the years, a BV1929L, a RV1961, a JCV-VM Mitt and an Optimus hybrid (kip leather, mesh and an H-web). Repairs and re-lace on the 1929 and the catchers mitt but the other two have held up really well. To be fair they never got the same amount of use due to them being used for DD's secondary positions. The original Vinci lace was definitely thinner and not as durable as the BFG lace that replaced it...should have re-laced them sooner!

To me it's definitely the weak link on Vinci gloves, and girls fingernails are notorious for cutting holes in the finger stalls!

My DD used her Vinci catchers mitt for over 6 years, playing year-round, TB and school, with catcher as her primary position. I made 2 minor lace repairs during that time. Considering the durability of the mitt overall, this is well within an acceptable amount of maintenance work for the amount of time the mitt was used. That was our experience, anyway. YMMV.

There's been over 10 Vinci's through our household, of course not all ours, others I got for players and their parents on various teams. I've had two catchers mitts and of course not having a catcher DD they never got used hard enough to hurt. The rest were fielders gloves and every single one of them had puny factory lace, especially in the crucial high stress areas.....the web and fingertips, and the heel binding.

I've re-laced / repaired multiple Vinci's inside of a dugout!

This could probably be a separate thread, but I have to give a shoutout to Vinci's customer service. Back at the end of October we ordered a custom catcher's mitt for DD. we received the glove just before Christmas, but they had made a mistake when making the glove. We ordered a right-hand throw, and a right-hand glove arrived. A quick call to Vinci and they had an Optimus built for no upcharge. The glove arrived yesterday and DD is super thrilled. This glove is going to be a beast to break in. So happy that Vinci has such awesome customer service. When I asked if they'd send a return label so I can send back the wrong glove, they said to keep it. If anyone knows a left-handed catcher that wants a really nice glove, message me.

I've dealt with their CS before and they were super helpful, it was a situation real similar to yours on a custom.
