Okay, so i've spent over $5,000 on gloves over the course of my kids playing careers, and here is what i would have said to my younger self or to my family members who don't have the means to trash money to experiment... Just buy this one glove at age 10+
The best softball glove for a short stop is.... a baseball glove... The Wilson 1787 11.75" Pedroia fit, thin pad. We went rolled binding because my daughter is small at 5-4. Its Wilsons second best selling glove after the 1786 11.5" for baseball.
If your kid is real baller, she might love the 11.5, but at that size you need strong hands to get that glove open, vs the 11.75 you just have to get your feet to the the ball and the glove does the rest.
The reason being, the shape of the glove of far superior than any pattern we've tried for Wilson Softball and Rawlings (Baseball and Softball gloves).
The pocket just vacuums ups balls. Even unbroken the ball just fits the pocket. Once broken in, it feels like what Jeters TT glove does for baseball. Shallow pocket quick in and out.
My daughter starts h/s next year, and we've ordered the A2K version, so i'll be able to tell you if the A2K or A2000 is better in 2 years or so.
This is just a small preview of all the gloves we went through to figure this out... all custom..
