Does anyone know what the normal protocol for a canceled championship game is? First experience with this was last Saturday, we somehow lost the game that never played 3-2.

Played all day in the rain, when both teams were getting to the field for the final game the lights shut off. Umpires told both teams there was a curfew in the city and the game could not be played, both teams agreed didn't want to win or lose on a coin toss and would just call it even. Parents checked scores after the tournament we lost 3-2? The other teams record is now 5-0 only played 4 games, and we are 3-2 again only played 4 games.

Articles V and VI cover tournament seedings, winner declarations etc.

For a World Series tournament the rules around an uncompleted tournament are laid out in Section E of VI:

"E. The following tiebreaker system will be used at all World Series tournaments to determine an order of finish in the event a tournament cannot be completed. Note that all games in the tournament should be used when average runs scored or allowed are being computed. This includes both pool and bracket play.
1. All teams still in the Winners’ Bracket are ordered first, using the following:
a) Winning percentage including pool and bracket play
b) Least average runs allowed per game played
c) Highest average run differential per game played (8 run limit)
d) Coin toss
2. Next, teams in the same spot in the Losers’ Bracket are ordered by the following:
a) Head-to-head (this is used first when only two teams are in the same spot)
b) The team which advanced farthest in the Winners’ Bracket before losing
c) Least average runs allowed per game played
d) Highest average run differential per game played (8 run limit)
e) Coin toss 3.
If only two teams remain in the tournament and each has one loss in bracket play, then those teams will be declared co-champions."

There's nothing about whether a game score should be recorded, only that there be a winner or co-champions.

There's also nothing similar in the State and Individual Tournaments (Section V), only that results and placings must be entered online following the event.

So, not sure where they got the idea that a game needed to be recorded, and the score. Nothing written in the USSSA rules about that.

I would have your coach reach out to the tournament director. We have def played USSSA events where the championship (or playoffs) have gotten rained out and they just made the seeding the final results. Not sure where assigning a winner/closer for a game that wasn't played came from
