Is this a rule? This shouldn't be a rule. Bo Jackson appreciation should be a daily occurrence.
I thought I read it somewhere in the by-laws..it was right next to the “increase your DD’s pitching velocity by 5 mph” and “kids who are good when they are young suck when they are older” rules

Here is a thread from 2016 on throwing velocity:

Found an NFCA document from 2011 that says the top 10pct of D1 players throw >=61.9mph

7. Throwing Velocity measured by the use of a radar gun
The athlete makes a maximum of five overhand throws with a regulation softball, on flat ground. No shuffle, crow hop, or running start is allowed. The distance the ball is thrown is irrelevant because the radar gun measures ball velocity within the first few feet of release. Maximum throwing velocity is recorded in mph. Average overhand throwing velocity for high school softball is approximately 48 mph; NCAA softball is approximately 57 mph.

At the Wasserman clinic the other week the typical top throwing speed was 57-58, but they were allowed to do a shuffle step to gain momentum.

The numbers in the mid to high 60’s and 70’s (maybe?) are probably mostly taken when the kids are allowed to shuffle, crow hop, etc. My 2028 has an average arm and she was able to muster 61 with a shuffle.
