Hitting vs Pitching: which is more important to win?

I finally concluded that pitching is more important than hitting when I started thinking about it like the chicken v. egg riddle. Once in that mind frame, its clear that there can be no hitting unless there is a pitcher to throw the ball. On that basis, pitching is most important. Case closed.
