Don't buy it. Don't believe there can be a standard mechanic for this. One way doesn't work for everyone. Catchers come in all shapes and sizes and they don't all have the same abilities to maintain their balance.

The best comparison I can make would be to go back to hitting. Batters come in all shapes and sizes as well. Each will have a different swing, a different stride, even setting up in the batter's box is different from one batter to the next. The one constant is their feet on the ground. I have yet to see a batter in any league get up on their toes when they hit. They are too off-balance. Take this thinking behind the plate. The catcher that makes full contact with the ground with their feet has better balance. Does this mean every catcher looks and acts the same from the ankles up? of course not. Since catchers do come in all shapes and sizes... they make this balanced stance their own... subtle differences for their own bodies and styles. Just like the batters and the diffences they have in their batting styles... Having a neutrally balanced stance will make a difference for the catcher though. it's the foundation for all the skills they must perform.
