Can someone explain regular ASA batting rules?

We usually play USSSA tournaments / rules.

If we don't want to use DP / Flex, is 9 the maximum we can bat?

Can you be more specific? Refer to rule 7 in the ASA manual for the rules regarding batting.

Rules are basically the same, other than ASA requires the batter to keep 1 foot in the batters box between pitches.

DP/Flex adds a player that only plays defense (i.e. Flex). As Comp posted, there are still only 9 batting.

Some events allow additional batters, so you need to check their rules for exceptions.

I still coach and the DP/Flex is a great tool.
I once had a girl who was a great hitter but could not field and vice versa.
No problem--the fielder played the field ( Flex) and the other girl (DP) batted for her.
Worked out well.
