You should see my DD. I clocked her with my pocket radar at 52 and she throws 8 pitches with each hand. She'll be celebrating her first birthday next month. Do you think it's too early to move her up to U16? My wife thinks we should wait until she can talk.
I've never been one to tell a parent what to do with their children, but if she has command and were mine I would go straight to D1. Oklahoma and Oregon would both be great fits

And they are no match for pop time conversations! :)
People like to latch on to anything that can be quantified. At least exit and pitching speeds can objectively be measured. Pop times, home to first, etc. are subjective. They are only relevant for the session when it was collected. Comparing them outside of that dataset is nonsense.

Why would you say that?
Pop times can be accuratly measured with "technoquiptment'
Yes i made that word up :)

Completely disagree its non-sense!

In fact i know its important and deffinetly a useful assesment in selecting catchers and recruitment!
Pop time is actually more important than throwing speed! This should be a different post....

For sake of discussion I was hired by a Japanese agent to scout the 96 Olympic softball teams in Atlanta. I was focused on pitching. I ran jugs and stalker guns (maybe a pro speed also) behind home plate. The best exit velocity that I can recall was 78. That was a pitched ball that I didnt get the speed of. I was bored and goofing around. The woman who hit is was a tall 1 bagger for the USA. Maybe from USC????

Michelle Smith had the fastest cruise around 67

You didn't make that up. I use the technoquiptment gage to test how much lift a rise ball has. I've seen them rise 57in to hit and hit the backstop. Its science

Like going to athletic testing camps were the newest technoquiptment is being used!

Side note on USC... from time to time see people comment why doesnt usc have a sb team?...well they did
It's was a club team.
For those of us who played against them....
We know why they didnt grow the program ;)

Unless you have consistency in the way data is collected, the data is garbage. Pop times are only as reliable as the method used for collection which is suspect at best. Pop times are useless for comparison outside of the event when they were collected.

Of course any results number is only as good as the testing method.

Why are you saying it's useless comparison outside of when being tested?

If you ask 5 camps how they measure "pop times" you will most likely get 5 different answers. As such you cannot compare the results collected by 1 camp with another. Now add in that a human using a stopwatch is inherently inaccurate. That "pop time" that so many hang their hat on becomes an average of averages. Not to mention you are collecting performance data during a drill that in no way resembles game conditions. This is a concept taught in basic middle school science, yet people talk of "pop times", "home to first", etc. as if it was some meaningful universal measurement of performance. It is by definition junk science.
