I am not a fan of 8u Travel ball. It's coach pitch! Kids haven't even started to learn to pitch yet. I knew TONS of 8U kids that were "phenoms" that quit after 10U. Parents couldn't handle that Suzy couldn't hit off live pitching after hitting 16 8U ITP HR's in the previous year.

My daughter started travel at 8U. We did local 10U C level stuff mostly. (so they had to learn to pitch, field and hit) Rec ball was not challenging. Her team was actually quite talented and by 10U won a State (open) tournament. They did one out of town tournament in the next state over. We had two pitchers that could throw strikes. The best pitcher quit ball around 14U. Almost every other kid on that team (now 16U and 18U) are headed to playing in college.

I know people scoff at 8U travel, but it worked for us. Made great friends and had a great time doing it.
