Nope, it's all about how you break it in. Don't use the mallets they sell for breaking in a glove as they are designed for a baseball pocket. Some of us here have come up with some alternative ideas on how to make your own mallet for a softball glove.

I drilled a hole in a softball and then epoxied in a dowel... works perfectly.

I used a drumstick instead of dowel. It was a 5/8 spade paddle bit to get the perfect hole in the ball.
