One problem parents and girls have is getting over the "only good players play on the infield" syndrome. The more advanced the team, the more important outfielders become--because hitters are going to start smacking them into the outfield.
I can't agree more. When my daughter wasn't pitching she played 1st base. Last year's team had a long line of talented girls playing 1st base. They ended up putting her in left field. At first she was down about it, but after playing in a few games she made a few catches, backed up 3rd, threw a girl out going home. She really ended up liking outfield. You do see a lot more action in outfield at the older ages (14U and up).
