Why they made the change to the rule is unimportant now. The sad truth is that the rule wasn't enforced properly or consistently. Does this solve the problem? No way. People will just argue that a girl is replanting now.
This is what I'm worried about. Anytime the push foot lands first, it will be considered a replant.

It is. Even if you don’t use your muscles to push and just land on that foot, momentum is gained … which is pushing.

I’ve long been searching for a physics simulator or a video that shows this. Take a triangular (or upside-down V) item and use two sides to represent the pitcher’s legs. Toss it so that the “back point” lands first … you have acceleration as the rest tips forward.
