should the runners start their motion to leadoff the when the pitchers passes her hip the 1st time?
My girls have one foot on the front of the bag and one foot behind so in other words should that back foot step when the pitcher passes her hip the 1st time?

This winter we have been working on, when the pitcher strides, our base runners are starting to stride.

After many studies we have went to a sprinter start, like you use in track. We jump as the arm comes down. We use to use the rocker start of years, but kids just can't get the timing down. DD worked with a coach from a large D1 that really got her time down, to under 2.7

At 12 oclock or pitcher stride start your motion. This has been a concurrent message from all the D1 coach conferences I have been to thru the years.

And they all say if someone doesn't get called for elaving early on occasion your not doing it right.

And SB is right. Minimize/simplify the running motion for best results. And umpires will tell you the rocker catches the periphial vision drawing attention to your runners-it appears they start earlier than they actually do.
