This is a drill obviously but it looks the same regardless. Arm action looks ok initially but the mechanics obviously breakdown at some point. What goes on after she lets go is what is glaring but that is more than likely due to something upstream.

I know when somebody cannot throw but haven’t really studied the mechanics much (guess I will have to start..) I was hoping she would outgrow this but doesn’t seem to be happening..,

Any ideas? Front shoulder coming off the target too soon maybe??

I have been doing some Wasserman stuff with her but obviously knowing the issues would make the training more fruitful…

She gets her glove out, but her front arm action still doesn’t look right. Like she’s twisting her arm to clear it, rather than actively pulling it into her torso.

ETA: Does anything change if you swap her glove out for a weighted ball?

Haven’t tried to replace the glove.

I haven’t tried it myself either, but I know Austin has talked about it and does that with several of his drills.

What happens after she lets go that you don’t like?

Tom House always described the glove side arm action as the opposite of “pulling the glove in”, but instead “taking the chest to the glove”. Pulling the glove in can cause shoulders to rotate early and head to fly off.

I’ll take a look. Right now my analysis consists of “it looks funny..” 😒

The arm path looks pretty good to me. What I see is the glove pulling her head out to the left.

Any history of arm problems? Inaccuracy?

I agree - but bringing the chest to the glove seems to apply more to the overhand pitch than a flat ground or non-pitching motion.

Or do you think he was talking about all throws?

Her trail leg gets stuck behind (often worse than that ) and the upper half seems to not follow through either. It is almost like she isn’t generating enough power for those things to be a result (especially the trail leg)
