with a drop curve and change and working on rise....what the use in learning this "scrop"?? Many pitchers get by with less pitches!
I agree with what you are saying, and the PC said that this pitch breaks all the rules. I'm not saying she will start throwing it, I'm not saying it's a good idea. I was just relaying what happened at a lesson last night and it was 'different'.
I think an inside IR fastball is a great pitch, and even a backdoor curve as someone mentioned, she can throw that also.
So there is no screwball? I don't see how you could get any real movement that direction. And in your opinion an inside IR fastball serves the intent of a screwball?
DD only throws a drop, curve and change. Rise is still a work in progress.

On that note, if her natural tail is down and away from RHB, will moving her thumb change finger pressure by itself or will she have to figure out how to shift pressure over to her index finger? A tail in to RHB seems like the best solution here.Thank god you are not on that band wagon! Jake had a fastball, rise, and change up. Perfect what you have, keep it natural, and above all keep it simple. Have her learn to tail her fastball in either direction.

This all started when coach called a screwball but DD doesn't throw a screwball. DD told coach but it was called again in the following innings. DD tried to throw a screwball, in retrospect she should have just thrown an inside fastball but that didn't happen. Coach then says learn a screwball..with a drop curve and change and working on rise....what the use in learning this "scrop"?? Many pitchers get by with less pitches!
