Scoring/rule book question

Runner on first. Batter drives one to left center which is fielded by cf on one hop and throws runner from first out at second. Batter attains first safely. Hit or FC? Runner from first should have gotten second safely but had turned back to play as she started to tag up.

IMO: Base hit and fuss at the runner!
Fielder only had one play (second) so I son't think it qualifies as a FC.

That's what I think too. No way to get batter out at first. I thought FC was for infield grounders only.

Its not a hit, if I am reading this right its a force out at second, so its a FC.

Bummer for the batter who has her batting average impacted, but its the way it is, somewhere down the line a fielder will misplay a ball that drops for a hit and she will have her average improved by someone else's mistake.

Fielder's choice -- it's a hard thing for the hitter, but that the rule. It all generally even's out over time, though.
