Question: How do you get DD evaluated to see what level of play she could/should compete at?

If you have TB or HS coaches with experience getting their players scholarships, that would be a good place to start. Pitching and batting coaches can also be great resources. The main objective is to find someone who can be impartial and will give you honest feedback. You don't need a "sunshine pumper" who tells you what you want to hear. You can also watch and gauge how your DD compares to other players in her age group.

Sidebar: You need to be careful when comparing your DD to her peers. There are different levels of softball being played across the country - rec ball, all stars, C-TB, B-TB, and A-TB. Being a great player on one of the lower levels teams does not always translate into success at the higher levels. Also, being a STUD on your local A-team does not mean that you would be a STUD when compared to players from across the country. One thing that is great about BIG showcases and ASA Nationals - it gives you a chance to compete against teams from a much wider geographical area to see how your DD measures up!

A lot of times the parents and players don't hear what they want to in an honest evaluation. A friend of ours just had one and we thought she might quit after hearing what they said, but then she agreed after thinking about it for awhile, and decided she liked "the game" too much to quit.
