When DD was 16u, played 7 games on a sunday in heat due to rain the day before at ASA State. They won it all in 90 degree heat. Two weeks ago 12s played five in a row on a Sunday. That is too many.

Four a day is enough. Tournament Directors allow too many teams, on too few of fields and then fail to schedule bracket accordingly. Usually not scheduling the second round in the losers bracket the night before, or not starting bracket games early enough on Saturday. It also happens when TD try to help their own teams gain an advantage when setting up the brackets, or not knowing the teams very well.

The game of softball is NOT meant to be played that way--five games a day is too many.

6 or 7 is pretty common if you are in any kind of ASA championship play. Everyone wants to avoid going into the loser bracket for that reason. Our 18U team has 4 pitchers and 2 catchers, just for that reason. 3 of the pitchers are signed to pitch in college. Sad to say if you play a tough travel ball schedule it takes pitching to survive Sundays.

DD did six once at 12U due to losing first bracket game and bad Saturday weather. Ran out of pitching and focus for all.

Two weeks ago my 11s played 6 games on Sunday. Got the overall 2 seed in pool play then immediately dropped our first bracket game. Battled through the losers bracket to the championship but by then we were out of pitching. All this with straight 9 and NO subs. Yes too many games but a good experience for the players.

2 years ago at 14U we had a rain shortened Sat. at Northern Nationals and played 7 games on Sunday, before we were eliminated. We had the possibility of 2 more had we won.
