Can't remember the player's name but there was a pitcher for Akron (NPF) a few years back that couldn't have been taller than 5'5" in her spikes but threw absolute gas...

I doubt that any 12YOA kid can throw 63MPH.

Angela Tincher at 5' - 7" brought 70+

No, she never threw over 70. This is from Tincher's web site:

In a sport where dominating pitchers tend to be well over 6-feet in height, people often ask us how a pitcher like Angela, just 5’7″, could pitch at speeds around 68-mph, achieve so much movement on the ball, and establish herself among the top pitchers in the college softball record books.

Also, last I checked, 5'7" was 4 inches taller than 5'3".

Last time I checked 70 was around 68mph which was her working speed, which is different than top speed. Scarborough was also 5'-7" and also hit 70mph upon occasion.

I clocked a 12 year old throw 62 last year, she played for the Birmingham Mustangs

The Montana LL girl being discussed is 16 or 17...not 12
Also, there has been a lot of debate not so long ago about the authenticity of ESPN's radars. Seems like they may cook the calibration a bit to draw in more of an audience. People love to watch a kid who can throw smoke. Even if that smoke is 60MPH and not the 63 displayed on our screens! `\_(•°/)_/`

Why is it so hard to believe? I've seen plenty of six footers that couldn't hit 55...

Well sure,...there is the "nature" side of being able to throw fast but as you can't deny the fact that as you get shorter the physics of being able to throw faster starts to diminish too....... Just a fact......

Ya that was my thinking too BUT then I started thinking that K stats don't lie (in general now). Given that these were 14-17 yr olds (mostly older side) I concluded that allot were TB players and that to K a bunch of TB players you would have to be throwing over 60.....
