Is the slip pitch a legal pitch?

What's interesting is that a pitcher can simply do a slingshot pitch and that's perfectly legal.

I wonder if that alone would be off-putting enough to get a K

When I pitched in HS I would go back and forth between windmill and slingshot. It definitely helped mess with batters’ timing. I was not a flamethrower so this definitely helped.
