Is it time for glove relacing or a new glove?

Hey folks,
This is my first post and it happens to be a question. For background, I never played baseball and my wife never played softball. So we are learning through our kids age 12 DD/10 DS.

2-3 years ago, i bought my daughter a Rawlings Heart of the Hide softball glove. Figured quality would save me money long term, and it was on clearance, so i pulled the trigger.

The glove is been great. She worked her way from right field to starting short stop (a ton of private lessons helped pave that way since we have no idea how to coach our kids).

I told her when she gets to 8th grade, i'll get a new glove and not hold back but i'd like to see this glove last her till then.

However, i see her slipping up when we practice. She blames her glove, i tell her its not the glove its her losing focus, etc... (typical dad/daughter exchange).

But i looked at her glove today and it doesn't look so hot. She is a typical kid that doesn't go out of her way of taking care of her stuff, but doesn't try to abuse it on purpose either. But this glove has been thrown in softball bag, left in the trunk, left god knows where, etc.. so not the best of care.

What do you think? Is this glove recoverable? Do you think a relacing would sort it out? Or do i need to do recondition/get a new glove, etc..?
If you suggest relacing, is there a mail-to-place i can send to? We're in north Jersey.

Thanks. I appreciate the guidance.

I don’t think it even needs relacing, Tighten the laces up, clean and condition. That’s a really nice glove.

Thanks @JayW . My next google: "How to tighten laces properly." Yup we're that green here.

Thanks again.

If it were mine, I’d definitely re-lace the fingertips and web spiral with a good quality 1/4” lace like Tanners. Doesn’t look like the rest of the glove needs anything.

How does she wear it? Looks like it needs a little reshaping, to me it needs a more bowl shape for SS.

Get you some lace and a Perma-Lok needle from Buyfastpitchgloves.com, go to YouTube and search Dirty30 glove videos and learn to do it yourself.

thanks all, all the above was super helpful. Just watching those videos i was able to pull an extra 3 inches out of the laces.
Must have been all those rain games that made this stretch so bad, or maybe it was just time.

I'll place the order for the laces once i figure out what sizes i need. (i'll probably order both 3/16th and 1/4th and keep a few extras around).

Listen to Annasdad. That glove needs some reshaping. You can take it to closeout bats and they will do it for you.

As a rule of thumb, 1/4” for the web, web spiral, and fingertips, and 3/16” everywhere else. I’d be surprised if this glove came with any 1/4” in it at all, probably all 3/16” or maybe 5.5mm? But I’d guess 3/16” for the entire glove.
