It has been legal for 6 years. I just can't count on the umpires knowing it.

I could say after 6 years even the umpires who dont read the rulebook would have heard the rule by now. But then again I still get coaches screaming for a lookback violation on a batter who just walked and rounded 1st base. "But the umpire we had last week said she cant do that!"
Sorry Comp, my bad, in the ASA Official Umpire Rule Book I often refer to it states:
Rule 3 - Equipment
SECTION 4. GLOVES. May be worn by any player, but mitts may be used only by the catcher and 1st baseman
It's an older rules book i reference and didn't realize it was a rules change in 2006. I'm gettin' old!
