Maybe this has been discussed, so apologies in advance! What does bumped to National team mean?

About $2000 to $5000 more dollars to be spent You will now travel further to play teams that are doing the same thing.

It means they will play a National schedule instead of a regional one. That entails playing better competition and getting on an airplane with regularity, unless you're one of those psychopaths who like to drive 10+ hours to events.

My daughter's second year of 16U was a true National schedule, and it cost us roughly $30K for the year.

Also, typically the bigger orgs will monitor wins and losses as well as who the team is beating. If they are going to national level events and beating quality opponents, they will get the bump up to a National Level team. Most orgs have some sort of base level team, a premier team, and a national team.

$30k = 2 years In-state tuition for University
That would cover in-state tuition, room and board for a year at most PA state schools - and before anyone tries to argue with me, Penn State is not considered one of the state schools. Most of them are D2 schools like West Chester, Kutztown, Slippery Rock, etc.
