I agree. If the "fastball" is noticeably faster than anything else she throws, it can be used as a reverse change if you will. If not, a couple of GOOD movement pitches and something off speed will get her a lot of fun if she has command.
I've been working with one of my older pitchers for a couple of years in developing good movement pitches and laying off the fastball more and more as she became older and the competition better.
We had a lesson tonight and her dad relayed that she had a very good outing this weekend, and stayed with all the breaking pitches and off-speed, and used the fastball for when she got behind, but when she used it, she made sure she threw it HARD!
Work on the change-up, the other team is going to get too comfortable at the plate when they know they don't have to deal with one.
